Who Are We?

Cheyne Walk Club is a private members club, which was formed almost eighty years ago and has always been on the same site. Despite this, it is often referred to as the best kept secret in Northampton.

The club’s purpose is to offer its members and their guests a high quality, traditional atmosphere in which to enjoy their leisure time, and to dine, whether this is at lunchtimes or during the evening.

The property, which is owned by the members is on the edge of Northampton town centre and is in a conservation area.

The building itself, which was commissioned in the late 1800’s, was the former home of the 1867 mayor of Northampton who was also a justice of the peace. Prior to its purchase and setting up as the private club, it was the family home of the Church family who are still world renown for their high quality shoes.

Perhaps therefore it is no surprise that the club prides itself on the quality of services it provides for its members and their guests.

With its oak-panelled lounge and magnificent marble fireplace complemented by being set in a beautiful oak archway with intricate carvings, there can be few places better to relax and forget the twenty-first century for a while.

The catering facilities are second to none with two separate dining rooms. One is very tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, with air-conditioning, whilst the other retains the décor of the time of the mansion house itself.

The well stocked flower gardens and lawn area can be enjoyed not only from the comfort of the garden furnishings but also from the comfort of the lounge via the traditionally lead-glazed windows on days with less clement weather.
